'It is very tempting to call the women Carla van de Puttelaar has photographed for this book ‘Sleeping Beauties’. After all, they are often lying on a bed and they always have their eyes closed. We know they are not really sleeping. They have adopted a sleeping pose on the photographer’s instructions. They are posing as Sleeping Beauties.
