Honest, touching and simmering with vitality, Kikuchi Osamu’s documentary photographic essay follows the trails of Hiroshi Hasegawa. After discovering that he was infected with HIV, Hasegawa, also known as the drag queen ‘Kuma Fujin,’ set up a network for HIV positive patients to live normal lives, while also struggling himself with the daily problems of the disease. Accompanied by an English language insert, the edition features full-page black and white photographs, interspersed by 16 colour images that tell the story of an individual and his joy of, and fight for, life.
