The photographs of Marketa Kratochvilova are the faces of people from another, perhaps more benign world. We have the feeling that between their eyes and our own, as viewers, there has been no intervening camera. Such a beautiful lack of violence is expressed by these people of all age groups, documented in the most various situations. Their natural expression testifies to the photographer's ability to connect with them, to gain their trust to such an extent that the camera is not perceptible. For Marketa Kratochvilova the camera is like an random instrument which is handled intuitively. With ease, she chooses the composition of light, in which the subject retains the beauty of simple existence. Every image is a window to a world made confidential to us despite ethnic differences. We pass between the faces of people who seem to burnish light and demonstrate a rare respect for the author who brings close to us "another world" without means of caricature.
And thus we are strangely drawn into a strange world which fascinates us.
