Born in 1966 in Heppenheim, Germany - Lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
Thomas Zipp integrates different media and techniques in his work, such as painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and cinema. He also employs collage and assembly techniques, but, above all, produces installations. The artist explores the unconscious in all its forms in his projects and installations. His dark aesthetics tackle the effects of drugs, the limits of philosophy and religion and the shady areas of psychiatry and psychotherapy as well as their links with social reality. Thomas Zipp's research in the fields of psychology, psychoanalysis and natural sciences, as well as his interest in pictorial exploration and human thought, feelings and perceptions confer on his work a universal dimension which goes well beyond the world of art.
As part of the celebrations for its tenth anniversary, CENTRALE is proposing a unique exhibition inspired by the original identity of the location (a former power station). From 24 March 2016 onwards, CONNECTED will reveal itself as a surprising and unusual journey, a voyage actively involving the spectator across the unique worlds of twenty Belgian and international artists.
