Künstlerhaus Bethanien presents « Tarantel 2 »
A tarantula is an arachnid from the family of wolf spiders. Signs of poisoning and St. Vitus’ dance are generally attributed to the bite of the tarantula.
"Tarantel 2" seeks its quarry among a curious public, with four artistic positions that Künstlerhaus Bethanien is setting into an international context for the very first time : their pictorial reality, remarkably promising and dangerously enticing, emphasizes a feminine side. Visitors must decide for themselves whether viewing these images will have detrimental effects on them.

The exhibition consists of approximately 180 works of photography, spanning from the 1842 to 2002. With a unique collection of original Irving Penns as a basis, the diversity of the collection is presented in a wide number of small exhibitions within the main concept, says Arnt N Fredheim, curator, the Statoil art programme. Thrice upon a time - Magasin 3 collection

The fall of 2010 marks the opening of the unprecedented exhibition 'Thrice upon a time.' This is the largest exhibition to date with artworks taken exclusively from the Magasin 3 collection. It is presented in three parallel chapters featuring a total of 202 works, all of which have not previously been shown at Magasin 3. 66 artists ranging from Absalon to Zetterquist fill the exhibition spaces with photography, drawing, painting, film and sculpture. Key works by established artists are shown alongside pieces by artists who have not previously exhibited in Sweden. Together these works give an unsurpassable insight into the Magasin 3 collection.

Die Ausstellung zeigt in beeindruckenden Bildmotiven die sich überstürzenden Ereignisse und bewegten Momente vom Zusammenbruch der DDR. Neben dem Blick auf die innenpolitischen Verwerfungen, die Ausreisewellen und Demonstrationen dokumentiert die Ausstellung in Pressefotos auch die internationalen Bemühungen um einen Friedensvertrag für Deutschland und den politischen Anschluß der DDR an die Bundesrepublik.
In vier Themenräumen entfaltet die Ausstellung das Panorama der Jahre 1989 und 1990. Sie beginnt mit einem Rückblick auf die "bleierne Zeit" der achtziger Jahre, führt danach durch die Chronologie der politischen Ereignisse von 1989, um dann in zwei Bereichen einerseits die Aktionen der Bürgerbewegung hin zur friedlichen Revolution, andererseits den Blick des ...
