Prophet Dube, Peter Sutherland Exhibit
Mountain Fold is pleased to announce the opening of "THE PROPHET DUBE", photography and video exhibition by Peter Sutherland.
“I spotted the poster for Prophet Dube on a phone box in Johannesburg, South Africa. The name and the idea of a character like Dube was perfect and fitting to represent the recent photos I'd been working on.
The images in this show were taken in USA, Jamaica, Japan, Uganda, and South Africa, All are places I was lucky enough to visit and all have been very inspiring. None of these are "travel" photos, hopefully they create a story like a set of drawings or paintings might.
Traveling can take on the feel of a quest for spirituality especially when your hosts share their lives with you. I had more than an appreciation for the subjects in some of these images, sometimes... - Exposition
Tokyo photo 2009 Japan's first art fair dedicated to still photography
TOKYO PHOTO 2009 endeavors to be the foremost art fair of photography in Japan. The venue is located in the heart of international business and culture in Tokyo. To be held from September 4 to 6, Tokyo Photo 2009 will provide visitors with a unique opportunity to see and buy a wide range of photographic works from vintage prints to cutting-edge digitally enhanced images.
With the support of the US Embassy and in collaboration with the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, Tokyo Photo will mount a special exhibition entitled Photo America. Featuring over 50 historical works spanning the 19th century to the present, Photo America will present a panoramic overview of American photographic expression. Virtually all of the works will be displayed for the first time in Japan.

Coinciding with the release of the VICE Photo Issue 2009, the magazine will present a series of photographic works in a special exhibition. Taking place at the Spencer Brownstone Gallery in New York, a list of photographers will include Terry Richardson, Ryan McGinley, Angela Boatwright, Richard Kern, Jerry Hsu, Logan White and Keiichi Nitta among others for a month long show that begins in just a few days on July 16th....
