Paulo Nunes dos Santos (b.1977, Portugal) is a Dublin based freelance journalist & photographer. He graduated from Universidade Autonoma de Lisboa in 2002 with a masters in Communication Sciences/Journalism and has since traveled extensively documenting armed conflict, humanitarian crisis, political instability and social issues throughout the Middle East, North and Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, South America, Caucasus and Eastern Europe.
He collaborates as an international correspondente with the Portuguese newspaper Expresso, contributes as a photographer with The New York Times and often publishes his work elsewhere internationally. His photos and feature stories have appeared in publications such as the International Herald Tribune, The New York Times, TIME.com, Sunday Times, The Guardian, Le Monde, Financial Times, El Pais, The Irish Times, Courrier Internacional, Smithsonian, Al-Jazeera and BBC, as well as in a variety of corporate magazines and websites.
Paulo has also undertaken assignments on social issues with UNHCR, Landmine Action, Dublin Simon Community, Handicap International and other non-governamental organisations. His photographic work is represented by Redux Pictures and is a member of Gaia Photos, a collective of international photojournalists and documentary photographers. Paulo is available for assignments in Ireland and abroad.
