Matilde Gattoni

Matilde was born in Italy in 1974 from a French mother and an Italian father. She studied History and History of the Art at the University of Strasbourg in France.
Her work focuses on water issues around the world, due to drought, desertification and ecological disasters. Her photographic work has appeared in publications such as Time Magazine, Elle, Geo, The Observer, Der Spiegel and Ventiquattro.

Her book “Uzbekistan, 10 years after independence” published in 2002 was made in collaboration with the Pakistani journalist Ahmed Rashid, one of the major experts of Central Asia and Afghanistan. The book depicts a social frame of Uzbekistan 10 years after its independence from the USSR and poses the delicate question of the future of the Uzbek nation, the most powerful country in Central Asia thanks to its strategic geographical position.

Matilde is an independent photographer based in Dubai and available for assignments. Since 2002 she collaborates with UNICEF.

Matilde is also specialized in architectural photography and has worked for clients such as Nemo Gruppo Cassina, the Zurich Airport and Nakheel, Dubai's largest property developer.
