Marcos Betanzos (Mexico City , 1983 ) studied architecture at the Escuela Superior de Ingeniería y Arquitectura del Instituto Politécnico Nacional, he is writer and photographer. Professor of the Faculty of Architecture of Universidad Nacional Autonoma de México and the Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey ( ITESM) .
In 2011 together with Victor Betanzos, Cinthia Xochicale and other architects he won an honorable mention in Urban Intervention Barragán House project organized by various government officials of the City of Mexico and Luis Barragán Foundation.
He is the author of the photographic project " Carreteros : historia de una migración urbana." In 2011 he obtained with it the V Look Young International Award in the category image . In 2012 he was a finalist and winner of the 2nd . Place in the International Photography Contest Landscapes in Transition organized by The International Federation of Landscape Architects.
With # BORDOS100 received the scholarship Jóvenes Creadores 2012-2013 CONACULTA-FONCA, and is currently on the Editorial Board of the magazine Domus Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
Carreteros : stories of urban migration est un projet longuement mûri par Marcos Betanzos « Je l'ai documenté pendant plus de 18 mois, vivant dans l'une des plus grande décharge d'ordures de la zone métropolitaine de la Vallée de Mexico. Plutôt que de réaliser des scènes très inhabituelles en un jour, j'ai décidé d'aller le plus près possible de la réalité d'un endroit où vivent des gens, j'ai senti que je devais observer ma réalité de manière très concrète, m'éloigner des titres académiques. » Le constat que Marcos Betanzos a fait de cet endroit est déconcertant, et son regard a oscillé entre l'horreur...
