For many years, the region of Scania has showcased an exciting and current art scene, with the city of Malmoe as its natural centre. Since the completion of the Oresund Bridge, that so elegantly connects The South of Sweden with the region of Copenhagen, the exchange between the two Nordic countries has drastically increased and the cultural life has experienced a refreshing boost. This can be seen not only in the increased number of visitors at cultural events on both sides of the strait, but also in the many new non-profit galleries and collaborative projects being initiated.

New Nordic Photography is the annual summer exhibition presented by the Hasselblad Foundation, exhibiting new works by emerging Nordic photography artists.
New Nordic Photography has been one of the annual exhibitions since 2004 for the Hasselblad Foundation. Each year, the work of 11 young photographers is displayed. The Victor Fellowships for that year are awarded to two of these young photographers. One recipient is granted a one year postgraduate training in United Kingdom and another recipient receives a five month artist-in-residency program at Location One in New York City.
