Henriëtte van Gasteren (Sevenum, 1964), known under the pseudonym of Lilith, is a storyteller with a passion for photography. Since 2006 she has allowed her self-portraits to speak for themselves. Recurrent themes: women, identity, female archetypes, gender bending and life itself. But especially freedom and equality.
A special photo exhibition can be seen from Saturday 11 January until and including Sunday, 9 March 2014: A house is not a home by Lilith. The themes of this new project of Limburg art photography are contemporary and timeless at the same time: the self-portrait and the interior.
For her project Lilith in da House she went out at the beginning of 2012 in search of adventure in an unfamiliar environment. She made an appeal in the media. She asked strangers to make their homes available for a day, so that she could make characteristic ‘Lilith self-portraits’. Scores of homeowners responded.
