John Armstrong et Paul Collins se sont rencontrés à l'Université York au milieu des années 1970. Armstrong vit aujourd'hui à Toronto, et Collins à Paris. Leur premier projet en collaboration, un livre intitulé Jim, a été publié par Coach House Books et la Art Gallery of Sudbury en 2002. L'installation photographique Jim a été présentée à la Robert Birch Gallery de Toronto, à la Art Gallery of Sudbury (Ontario), à l'Artothèque de Caen (France), à la Kunsthalle Erfurt (Allemagne), à la Owens Art Gallery de Sackville (Nouveau-Brunswick), au Museum of Canadian Contemporary Art et à l'Alliance Française Lakeshore de Toronto. Lakeshore, leur récent projet de collaboration en peinture et en photographie, a été exposé à L'Hôtel (Caen), Truck (Calgary), et Platform (Winnipeg).
CONTACT is an annual month long festival of photography with over 1000 local, national and international artists at more than 200 venues across the Greater Toronto Area in May. Founded as a not-for-profit organization 14 years ago, CONTACT is devoted to celebrating, and fostering an appreciation of the art and profession of photography.
