Jeroen Kramer #Photographe
Jeroen Kramer (Amsterdam, 1967) moved to France at the age of nineteen, where he studied law and French literature. In 2001 he became a freelance photojournalist in the Middle East. He reported on the second Palestinian intifada and the American invasion of Iraq. In addition to the Middle East, Kramer also worked in Africa, Afghanistan, Burma and the Philippines, for Getty Images, the Volkskrant, The New York Times, Vanity Fair and other clients. His photographs were to be seen in exhibitions such as the Noorderlicht Photofestivals Nazar (2004) and Act of Faith (2007), FotoFest USA 2005 and the exhibition la Vita Nuda, during the 2008 Milan Trienalle.
Livre Jeroen Kramer Photobook: Room 103 With the exhibition the photobook Room 103 is published by Aurora Borealis, the publishing arm of Noorderlicht. The book contains a selection of Kramer's photographic oeuvre of journalism, documentary and autonomous work. Supplemented with short texts, Room 103 is a document of the photographer's inner conflicts and doubts, and summons up the questions that the news passes over.

Paolo Ventura
Italian artist Paolo Ventura is a storyteller. Each of his pictures holds its own little mystery, a concoction of atmosphere, character and detail that urges for closer examination. Ventura, like a true master illusionist, makes things disappear in front of our eyes. At Paris Photo we will show his latest work ‘The Infinite City,' which is inspired by his travels on New York City's above ground train lines as well as by Italo Calvino's writings. In this unique piece Ventura built and painted a group of...Exposition Exhibition : « Une Femme » by Jeroen Robert Kramer
The central figure in Une Femme is composed of different characters. There is Khiar, a handsome, elderly Lebanese gentleman who lives in Beirut, a city scarred by decades of religious tension. The wars that arose from those tensions do not appear in the exhibition, but we sense the presence of an ‘elephant in the room’. Then there is the photographer, who makes images of traffic lights changing, or of the planters that are found everywhere in Beirut, and who finds beauty in a pile of sand or in the banality of a barber’s sign or a grocer’s shop full of food. “I want to make work about ordinary life. I want subtlety, poetry, the gentleness of the banal. I’ve had enough of the spectacular, of what I did when I was working for the New York Times,” says the photographer to Khiar....Exposition Jeroen Kramer - Room 103 Since 2001 Jeroen Kramer has been active as a photojournalist in the Middle East. His photos of the hard news from this region found their way into international media. But Kramer had enough of fast journalistic work. He went in search of intimacy and beauty, and sought refuge in autonomous photography. Together with the book of the same title, Room 103 affords an insight into the complex and schizophrenic reality of a photographer who lives and works in a conflict zone.
After a stay of three years in Syria Jeroen Kramer then lived and worked four years in Beirut. There, and from there as a base, he constantly had opportunities to shoot news images. But Kramer himself saw increasingly less sense in doing so. How often were these photos, taken at great risk, simply used in service of one-dimensional reporting about the...Modifier l'image
