Robert Mann Gallery sera présent à Art Miami 2011. Pour cette exposition, la galerie présente une installation progressive de photographies contemporaines de divers galeries et artistes, comme un concentré du travail de Robert Frank incluant des images iconiques de la publication The Americans.
La galerie est fière de présenter le nouveau travail de Julie Blackmon, dont les riches portraits de la vie domestique s'apparentent aux motifs à travers l'histoire de l'art, plus perceptiblement ceux du maître de la Renaissance allemande, Jan Steen, plus connu pour son expérience personnel d'une vie familiale chaotique. Dans le travail de Julie, on constate un mélange de spontanéité et d'audace.

Elijah Gowin - Into the Sun, at Robert Mann Gallery
Robert Mann Gallery invites you to attend the opening reception of Elijah Gowin: Into the Sun on Thursday, September 8 from 6-8pm. Into the Sun presents new works from Elijah Gowin's most recent series. Gowin's work has always been simultaneously engaged with questions around belief, ritual and memory as well as the material status of photographic representation. As critic Lyle Rexer writes, "Elijah Gowin is the prophet of this longing, the diviner of such dreams. His work confronts the impenetrability of the world and the challenge of representing it."
In this series Gowin has transgressed one of the most basic guidelines of photography, and of the gift of sight more generally by looking directly into the sun. To look in this direction is to seek communion with its faraway, generative force. At ...
