In recent years, television’s «reality» shows and talent competitions, along with Web-based social media, have pioneered new models of cultural participation that offer people a conflicted chance at fame. At the same time, governments worldwide have asserted vast new powers of surveillance, putting unwitting «participants» on an entirely different stage. Against this backdrop, The Talent Show, examines a range of complicated relationships that have emerged between artists, audiences, and participants in light of the competing desires for notoriety and privacy that mark our present cultural moment. Che cosa sono le nuvole? Artworks from the Enea Righi Collection
The Museion venue welcomes the Righi Collection, one of the most significant private collections of contemporary art, which to date has only been exhibited at the Collection Lambert in Avignon, France. The arrival of the collection represents an important exhibition opportunity for Museion, thanks to a ten year deposit of works in the museum.
The presentation of a selection of works from the Righi Collection aims to elicit reflections on the encounter between the public dimension and the intimate sphere of a private collection. The artists present in both collections, including Roni Horn (NY, 1955), Jana Sterback (Prague, 1955), Robert Barry (NY, 1936), Alighiero Boetti (Turin 1940 – Rome 1994) and Miroslaw Balka (Warsaw, 1958) represent the numerous convergences of vision between the museum and the private coll... - Exposition
David Lamelas London Friends
Monika Sprüth and Philomene Magers are pleased to announce an exhibition of Argentinian-born artist David Lamelas. With both Lamelas´ seminal film installation "Film Script (Manipulation of Meaning)" (1972) and the photo series "London Friends" from the following year, the show focuses on two works the artist realized during his residency in London from 1968 to 1977.
David Lamelas is one of the pioneers of Conceptual Art and the related practice of institutional critique which developed during the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Buenos Aires in 1946, he emerged in the early sixties with an arsenal of artistic strategies and a clarity of concept that at the time had not previously been formulated within any cultural context in Europe and the United States.
