smash the ghetto by DEMOCRACIA
Democracia have participated in numerous museum shows including the recent show curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist with artists such as Cy Twombly, Gilbert & George and Doug Gordon et al (Casa Museo Federico Garcia Lorca, Granada), as well as the Taipei Biennale 2008.
In 2007, the Madrid City Council decided that El Salobral, one of Europe's largest shanty towns located on the southern outskirts of Madrid, should be demolished and its inhabitants rehoused. "Smash The Ghetto" is a video and photography installation documenting the demolition of these slum districts.
Parallel to this solo show the gallery is presenting individual projects by the artists Maslen & Mehra, Daniel Canogar and Li Wei.

Nuevas Historias a new view of Spanish Contemporary Photography
The exhibition "Nuevas Historias - a new view of Spanish Contemporary Photography" includes works by more than 30 Spanish artists with the aim to put the spotlight on an area of contemporary photography that is still largely unknown to many people but deserves all attention. However, the situation has changed rapidly and today one is struck by the innovative and intense expression of contemporary Spanish photography, which reflects the radical development that has taken place in Spain. In just a few decades, a somewhat closed society has been transformed into a multifaceted country in which contemporary culture enjoys a strong position.

« Transparence » photographies en caisson lumineux à la projection ou à la radiographie

Les oeuvres, datant des années 1970 à nos jours, sont choisies par les références qu'elles procurent, liens à l'image familiale, publicitaire, pédagogique, filmique ou médicale. La scénographie de l'exposition mélangeant supports et techniques, privilégie des regroupements thématiques élargis (l'intime, le corps, la vi...
