Célia Pernot, born in France in 1978, is an independent photographer who realizes photographic assignments for international press-magazine and corporate communication, as well as she conduces personal projects.
Her studies, first of cinema then in art school, took her to experiment photography, drawing, video and serigraphy in a story-telling context. At the California College of Art, Célia participated to the photo-documentary class of Jim Goldberg, Magnum agency photographer. She began there her portraits series of artists from San Francisco Bay Area, which was exhibited in several galleries in California and in France from 2002 to 2007.
Working for Alessandro Subrizi's photography studio in San Francisco allowed Célia to get essential business skills to establish herself as independent photographer in 2004.
In France in 2005, Célia realized several society-oriented photo-stories. Part of Territoires de Fiction, a photo project on French identity, those stories were published in several magazines and on Le Monde website as well as exhibited at the 2006 Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie (Arles, France), at the 2006 Transfotografia festival (Poland), during a lecture at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in 2007 (Paris, France) …
Selected for the 2006 Missouri photo workshop, Célia began a two years process photo-story on alternative agriculture in the mid-west, which was selected for the 2007 Reportage Talent Award given by Kodak and Photographie.com.
Since then, Célia, still inspired by art references and documentary contexts, keeps on conducing photo projects on alternatives : the biodiesel industry in California, the water share in the Middle East...
