Born in Tucson Arizona, in 1981. Attained a BFA from the University of the Americas in Puebla, México followed by an MFA from Stanford University in California and a second MFA from the Sir JJ School of Art in Mumbai.
His work concentrates on the ways physical environments are organized with a specific focus on cartography and systems of world measurements. In addition Miguélez’s work also contemplates issues of personal narrative, displacement, cultural contrasts and identity documents. Formally his work is interdisciplinary combining at times photography, drawing, installation and sound sculpture.
3 commissioned curatorial projects and 55 participating artists hailing from 22 countries or territories constitute the results of the biennial of the frontiers, to be exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Tamaulipas focusing on the concept of borders.
From sound art to drawing, the show identifies the most outstanding representations of emerging art at the regional, national and global level, and groups them together in a visual dialogue.
