Figure reconnue de la photographie néo-zélandaise, Anne Noble travaille par séries. Elle explore souvent la représentation de la place, de la mémoire et de la sensation. Peu connue en Europe (elle n'a été exposée qu'en Allemagne et en Espagne), elle a été au premier rang de la pratique photographique de son pays, depuis le début des années 80.

For over 10 years Anne Noble, one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s preeminent photographers, has set her sights on Antarctica, undertaking three missions there and making a world tour of Antarctic centres in parallel. She has created an extraordinary body of work, exploring the cultural construction of place, her images challenging the traditional representation of the Antarctic as heroic, picturesque and sublime. white shadow white shine, may be seen as the culmination of this decade-long exploration, and as Noble’s ‘reverential and original homage' to Antarctica’s power and history.

This exhibition draws from a wide range of photomedia including traditional photographic practices and some rich examples of contemporary documentary in Sydney. All the participating artists have exhibited at Stills before.

Cette série donne à voir une représentation extrêmement originale de l'enfance, dénuée de ses clichés, à travers l'exploration de « ce que les enfants font avec leur bouche » : La série est consacrée à la fille de l'artiste elle-même, Ruby. Elle a été montrée en Nouvelle-Zélande, en Australie, et n'a été dévoilée au public européen qu'en Allemagne. Ruby's Room rassemble une quarantaine de photographies. Dans cette série, les éléments physiques sont amplifiés par l'utilisation de couleurs très contrastées et par le flash direct ; les images sont produites à une échelle qui est volontairement disproportionnée par rapport à l'apparente banalité du sujet, et que la scénographie met en valeur.
