An evening with Sebastiao Salgado is an incredibly rare opportunity to see and hear one of the world's most important social documentary photographers. He has created some of the most moving images about challenges facing people around the globe.
The night will begin with a screening of Salgado's new work, "Genesis". This epic work is a loving and passionate homage to the untouched environment of our planet Earth; a call to each of us to honor and connect with it. Following this, Ken Light, professor at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, will join Sebastiao Salgado on stage in a conversation about Sebastiao's life and work.
Sebastiao Salgado started his professional life as an economist and quickly found photography. His projects visually express the economic and social justice challenges in less developed nations and has been published and shown worldwide. In 1998, he and his wife founded Instituto Terra, an organization aimed at restoring the Atlantic rainforest in Brazil where he grew up.
Signed copies of his books will be available for purchase at the event. Salgado will not be doing any other signing.
