IL REPORTAGE PHOTOJOURNALISM AWARD 2018
CALL FOR ENTRIES
Il Reportage, the quarterly literary, journalism and photography review, in collaboration with Officine Fotografiche Roma, is pleased to announce the second edition of Il Reportage Photojournalism Award 2018, an international documentary photography competition.
The theme of this edition is “Revolutions”.
At a time when the violence and blindness of tyrants try to prevent the realization of democratic processes in society, revolution seems to be the natural and only response possible. But what are the revolutions currently in progress?
Innovation, insurrection, uprising, innovation, progress, rebellion, transformation, chaos, upheaval, disorder, revolt, coup, subversion: these are just some of the possible variations of the word revolution.
With this theme, we invite photographers to submit works that describe revolutions and their consequences: from political to social, scientific to anthropological ones, from stories of struggles and revolutions carried out by individuals to those that move entire communities and countries.
There is NO entry fee
An initial selection of the works will be curated by the editors of Il Reportage and the staff of Officine Fotografiche Roma, with the publication of the 25 projects that will take part in the final stage of the competition on the Il Reportage website. The selection of the finalists and the winner will be entrusted to professionals from the worlds of journalism, photography and publishing: Elisabetta Buffa (President of Phos - Centro Fotografia Torino), Claudio Corrivetti (Founder of Postcart Publishing House) Riccardo De Gennaro (Director of Il Reportage), Emilio D'Itri (Director of Officine Forografiche), Giulia Ticozzi (Photoeditor of La Repubblica), Riccardo Venturi (Photographer from Contrasto Agency).
The works of the top three photographers will be published - between 2018 and 2019 - in the portfolio section of the review Il Reportage. The winner will receive a prize of 1,000 €, the second and third prizes will each be 450 €.
Il Reportage will produce the exhibition of the winner’s work which will be held in two different multifunctional locations devoted to photography: Officine Fotografiche Roma in October 2018, Phos – Centro Fotografia Torino in December/January 2018/2019.
