
It is the third press photographers’ festival “Vilnius Photo Circle” already that the Lithuanian Press Photographers club is holding this October.
This year the festival exhibitions will be composed of the works from the festival competition "Circle of Life" and the programme for young photographers "Home Work".
At the end of October, (preliminary from 23 to 25), the "Photographers’ Weekend" will be held in Vilnius, which will include lectures and tutorials as well as the awarding of the winners of this festival.
The competition the "Circle of Life" is a completely new stage of this festival. It is a competition for social theme photo stories about our everyday life.
A photo story is expected to consist of between 4 and 20 photos. The deadline for this competition is 2nd October 2009.
The best 10 to 15 of the photo stories selected by an international jury will be exhibited during this festival and eventually published in the journal "Photo Circle".
Our main sponsor “Nikon” has established the first prize of this competition. The winner will get a Nikon D3, Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8, Nikon SB-900.
The programme for young photographers is of educational character and has been in process since the first festival held in 2007. The tutor of the festival programme "Home Work" this year is Mikkel Örstedholm from Sweden. This programme is intended for photographers under 35.
The best evaluated 5 collections of this task will be exhibited during the festival and published in the journal "Photo Circle".
The main sponsor of the "Home Work" programme is the Swedbank bank, which will award the best young photographer of this year. The deadline for this task is 2nd October 2009.
Photos for the competition "Circle of Life" and for the programme "Home Work" can be sent by e-mail or uploaded into the ftp server. All the information about the terms for uploading has been available on our website since 15th September 2009.
Those photographers whose photos will be exhibited during the festival and published in the journal "Photo Circle" will be provided with the accommodation for the two-night stay in Vilnius for two persons during the "Photographers Weekend".
The winners of the competition "Circle of Life" and the programme "Home Work" (one person from each) will have the costs of their travel to and from Vilnius (not exceeding € 500) covered.
The organizers of the festival retain the right to additionally exhibit the works selected by the festival board from those photos that have not been selected either by the international jury or by the tutor of the youth programme.
The organizers of the festival may exhibit the selected photos and publish them in the journal "Photo Circle" or as sets of postcards intended for the promotion of the festival without payment to their authors. All authors whose photos will be selected for the festival sets of postcards and the journal will receive those publications free of charge.
