The October issue of The Digital Journalist
Welcome to the October issue of The Digital Journalist, the online monthly for visual journalism.
These are tough times. Although we may have escaped a re-run of The Great Depression, certain segments are continuing to plunge in a permanent reset. Unfortunately, journalism is one of those sectors.
In this month's issue we continue to show and discuss the consequences.
Our cover feature, "Upstate Girls: What Became of Collar City," is by Brenda Ann Kenneally, and edited by Beverly Spicer. We first saw this show this fall at Perpignan and looking at it was like receiving a visceral punch in the solar plexus. Brenda Ann is an example of the direction of the new photojournalism. Spencer Platt World Press Photo 2007
Le Prix World Press Photo 2007 a été décerné vendredi à Spencer Platt, photographe américain de l'agence Getty Images Inc., pour une image d'une rue de Beyrouth dévastée l'été dernier par les bombardements israéliens.
Cette photographie "pleine de complexité et de contradictions", selon le jury réuni à Amsterdam, montre un groupe de cinq jeunes Libanais à bord d'une voiture rouge dans les ruines de leur capitale, le 15 août dernier
Un photographe de Reuters, Akintunde Akinleye, a remporté le premier prix dans la catégorie "spot news" pour une photographie prise après l'explosion d'un oléoduc en décembre à Lagos, au Nigeria.
Dans les dix catégories de récompenses, les photographies de la guerre du Liban l'été dernier se taillent la part du lion.
