In 1992 Jeffrey Deitch invented the term Post-human to define an artistic current which now numbers, among others, Matthew Barney and Jeff Koons. Post-human is the world where we now live, a world of transformation, manipulation and contrivance which is a consequence of scientific and technological advancement, especially in the field of genetics: we are no longer bound to our original appearance, as we now have the opportunity to rebuild and totally change ourselves, passing from a natural human evolution to an artificial one.

Saul Zanolari atteint une esthétique proche de l'être humain, mais dont l'accentuation de détails et de couleurs remet en cause la tradition du portrait photographique.
D'origine Suisse, l'artiste Saul Zanolari explore à travers la photographie les limites de l'esthétique de la beauté humaine en s'appropriant l'image de personnages réels connus, tels Simon le Bon ou Miss Kittin, ou tout simplement ceux de son entourage familial.
Ses photographies digitales, retouchées avec génie, nous transportent vers un monde fantastique qui nous est à la fois familier et dérangeant, dérangeant par le réalisme poussé des détails physionomiques des personnages, repoussants de monstruosité et énigmatiques.
