Lionel ROY claims a multicultural European influences, but it's in Paris that this visual artist expresses himself through photography, especially the portraits.
In 2012, he gives tribute to armchair, "the Egg chair" through a series of portraits called "the egg does not dance with the stone."
"The egg, a primordial reality, which contains the germ, the multiplicity of beings."
With this installation, the artist updates the hidden inhibitions of his models, he opens a window into their hidden desires. This staging playful and poetic, reveals the dream of each. The photographer becomes the observer of proposed fantasies, he translates them into a personal reading, drawing inspiration from the aesthetics of old Polaroids.
Eleonora de Gray : Lionel, why did you choose the symbolic of the egg ?
Lionel Roy : As says Christophe Colomb : "It was enough to think", more seriously, when you are shooting portraits, people always think to how they will be on the picture but not how they feel themselves at the moment of the photo shooting.
The goal of this egg armchair is to create the event. Each person becomes the actor of a situation, they don’t pose as a passive model, they transmit an energy to the image of their personality… they act ….
