Richard Page is a photographic artist based in Manchester and is currently Programme Leader of BA (Hons) Photography at Manchester Metropolitan University. He received the Jerwood Photography Award in 2004 and his artist’s monograph What We Already Know was published by Ffotogallery in 2007. Employing a variety of approaches, his work considers how space is implicitly bound up with history, memory, and our psychological relationship with place. Richard has exhibited widely thoughout the UK and abroad, including shows in London, Cardiff and Germany. Most recently his work featured in Diffusion: The Cardiff International Festival of Photography for which he curated and edited the exhibition and publication From Common Differences. His work was included in JAP Alexander's Perspectives on Place (2015) and has been published in Portfolio magazine, the Guardian, Source, Art Review, Artists Newsletter and Royal Academy magazines. Richard is currently working on a project in Spain, The Dialogue Of The Dogs, which will be exhibited at the Francesca Maffeo Gallery in 2017.
Press Release - Francesco Maffeo Gallery is delighted to present 'The Dialogue of the Dogs' by Richard Page, opening on 13th January 2017. This new body of work is a documentary project that depicts the cultural, political and economic landscape of central Spain today.
'The Dialogue of the Dogs' takes its title from the Cervantes novel of the same name, in which we imagine two dogs given the gift of speech for one night. In Cervantes' story, the two dogs tell of the cruelty of their masters and corruption of humanity.
