Ralph Steiner, a still photographer and cinematographer whose documentary films included the 1930's classic ''The Plow That Broke the Plains,'' died yesterday of cancer in Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, N.H. He was 87 years old and lived in Thetford Hills, Vt.Mr. Steiner was ''a key figure in winning vanguard status for photography comparable to such painting movements as Cubism, Futurism and Constructivism and the last of the American Modernist photographers,'' said Ann Hoy, the curator of his current exhibition, ''Ralph Steiner: Seven Decades,'' at the International Center of Photography in New York.In 1929, Mr. Steiner made ''H#2#0,'' which is considered the second American art film. Richard Steinheimer was born in Chicago in 1929. In 1939, when his family moved to Glendale, California, their house was located near the Southern Pacific main line. In 1945, he began photographing with a Kodak Brownie camera, and two years later began to work with a medium-format Speed Graphic camera, with which he created some of the most beautiful night photographs of railroads ever made. He attended San Francisco City College and from 1956 to 1962 worked as a photojournalist on staff of the Marin Independent Journal. In 1963, his book Backwoods Railroad of the West was published and eventually became one of the most collectible railroad books. Stephanie Steinkopf (née en 1978) s’est diplômée en Ethnomusicologie, Histoire contemporaine et Etudes d’Amérique latine avant de commencer à étudier la photo- graphie en 2009. Elle s’est ensuite diplômée à la Ostkreuz-schule für Fotografie de Berlin en 2012. Son travail est centré sur des projets sur le long terme basés sur de proches relations personnelles. Stephanie Steinkopf travaille comme photographe indépendante et vit à Berlin.

Barbara Steinman aborde dans son travail les questions de la tolérance et de la fragilité des frontières. Elle a exposé au Musée d'art moderne et au Jewish Museum de New York, à Amsterdam, Boston, Liverpool, Tokyo, Troyes (France), ainsi que dans le cadre des biennales de Tokyo (1985), São Paulo (1987), Venise (1988), Berlin et Cologne (1989), Sydney (1990) et Séoul (2000). Sa pratique s'est élargie pour inclure des commandes permanentes extérieures à grande échelle, pour lesquelles elle travaille avec des architectes paysagistes dans le but de créer des « interludes urbains », des espaces verts de contemplation au centre de Toronto et Vancouver. Elle a obtenu le prix du Gouverneur général en arts visuels et médiatiques en 2002.

Alessandro Stella est né en Italie. Diplômé en scénographie à l'Académie des Beaux Arts de Rome, il vit et travaille à Paris. Depuis quelques années il travaille autour d'un personnage nommé "Superstar" Cette créature évolue dans un univers imaginaire ; sa réalité." Superstar " choisit son image et celle des êtres qui l'entourent. Il dévoile son intérieur et il se cache derrière un " logo ". Il devient objet fétiche, peinture, photo, il se montre en mouvement. L'artiste nous projette dans ce nouveau monde, sans parti pris, en détournant personnages, nature et espaces. Natascha Stellmach* lives and works in Berlin and Melbourne.
