Beyond the romance and colonialism of travel photography and photo journalism is another Kathmandu, a valley of unseen things. There are no earthquake scars, but the people in Pahparn Sirima Chaipreechawit’s singular vision of Kathmandu seem trapped, lost in an ancient maze, chasing their own shadow in a danse macabre. She has achieved this truth not through academic study of Nepali socio-political conflicts, but via some instinctive process of psychic osmosis.
