For the final 2014 edition of FOCAL POINT, I have selected three female photographers who are using photography to inform viewers about an important issue in today's world. While the projects are technically documentary or photojournalistic in nature, these women bring the viewer to the topic in softer, more subtle way than this style typically suggests. When the message does land gently in the viewer's lap, the surprise of it creates a powerful impact. FOCAL POINT surveys the landscape of emerging photographers and selects three talented, driven, and noteworthy artists to highlight each quarter. All FOCAL POINT photographers receive mentoring from Crusade for Art to think about their work, their target audience, and how to best engage them.
