Exposition : Sounds like isolation to me
In its role of museum as a working space, La Tallera inaugurates one of the most recent productions of the artist Mario García Torres—Sounds Like Isolation to Me, a project initiated in Berlin and that our institution transforms into an in-situ proposal by displacing it to a space where groups of artists and intellectuals of the 1960s and 70's used to meet and discuss their political postures. In this way, Mario García Torres constructs a micro history based on Cuernavaca's historic charge, an urban environment that gave rise to multiple laboratories of XX-century thought in Mexico.

Né au milieu des années 1970, l’artiste mexicain Mario García Torres revisite l’histoire de l’art conceptuel. De ce mouvement, qui affirme la primauté de l’idée sur la réalisation, il ne reste parfois que des esquisses ou des documents. Mario García Torres s’amuse à retrouver les origines de certaines pièces pour reposer la question de ce qu’est l’art et une certaine histoire où l’on croise aussi bien John Baldessari, Sol LeWitt que Robert Barry.
Pour le Jeu de Paume, Mario García Torres a imaginé un projet intitulé "Il aurait bien pu le promettre aussi" qui occupe quatre espaces différents : le foyer, la mezzanine, la librairie et la publication. Ces interventions...
