Le prix autrichien Otto Breicha est attribué à...
Tous les deux ans depuis 1993, le Musée Moderne de Salzburg remet le prix Otto Breicha récompensant "une oeuvre photographique exceptionnelle". Cette année le prix est attribué à Leo Kandl.

Le musée a récompensé "un des plus excitants artistes autrichiens actuellement". Selon son directeur, les photographie de Kandl immerge les spectateurs dans un monde marginal, donnant à voir une autre Autriche.

Leo Kandl est né en 1944 et a étudié à l'académie des beaux-arts de Vienne. Il a principalement exposé en Autriche mais aussi en France et aux Etats-Unis.

The Museum der Moderne Salzburg honors Leo Kandl, the recipient of this year’s 15th Otto Breicha Award for Photography, with a comprehensive monographic exhibition.
Leo Kandl (b. Mistelbach, Austria, 1944; lives in Vienna) has been making visual history for more than four decades. A reticent and sensitive observer, Kandl has traveled the world and returned with pictures that attest to his encounters. In the street, in bars and cafés, in railway stations and taverns, Kandl’s camera paints a portrait of society and creates a documentary record of the world around him.
