Laurent Baillet, born in 1978, is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris. Since childhood, he has been interested and actively engaged in various art forms and media. Prior to devoting himself to photography in 2010, Laurent had a successful career in the corporate world of marketing and strategy.
He started out pursuing a mix of personal projects and commercial studio photography. Since 2012, he has focused on his artistic approach, refining a personal style and working for various prominent artists.
Starting in January 2013, he has worked frequently for Liu Bolin, mainly in Europe. As his photographer, he captures images of Liu Bolin’s performance. In March of 2014, Laurent also worked for Li Wei, photographing his performance at the Grand Palais, as part of Art Paris.
Laurent is very interested in 20th and 21st Century painting and photography, with a specific inquiry into aspects of each particular medium. Issues such as society and the place of individuals in it, religion, and consumption are central in his work. Warhol’s work also interests him. In his approach, Laurent uses photography in order to capture reality, as a basis for social commentary.
He has been interviewed and his work has been spotlighted in various print magazines and online publications since 2011.
