An award-winning visual artist since 2004 and professional photographer since 2009, Eduardo Javier García García is an emerging creative force in his native Cuba. With his keen eye focused on the human form and its interplay with its surroundings, he captures the essence of what makes everyday moments extraordinary.
Specializing in documentary photography, García has lectured in Venezuela and Argentina and has collaborated with his twin brother, Orlando García García, also an award-winning Cuban photographer, on the following three exhibits: “Angels in Havana” – 2005, “Life” – 2009, and “Similar but Different” – 2012. Each exhibit explored indelible moments reflecting the human spirit and life in Cuba.
A graduate of the Pedagogical Institute "Enrique José Varona" in 2005 with a concentration in Foreign Languages and Visual Arts, García is currently a member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).
On the heels of the Obama administration’s momentous policy changes regarding US-Cuba relations, Robert Mann Gallery is pleased to announce The Light in Cuban Eyes, a group exhibition of contemporary Cuban photography. This will be the first New York exhibition focused on work made during and after Cuba’s “Special Period,” the time of extreme hardship and poverty which followed the withdrawal of Soviet resources in the early 1990s. The exhibition will feature works by artists including Pedro Abascal, Pavel Acosta, Juan Carlos Alom, Jorge Luis Álvarez Pupo, Ramsés Batista, Raúl Cañibano, Arien Chang, Donis Dayán, Reinaldo Echemendía Cid, Adrián Fernández, Eduardo García, Alejandro González, Glenda León, Liudmila + Nelson, ...
