Hiepler and Brunier « immobilized »
The exhibition „stillgestellt“ (immobilized) is a collection of works that were created between 2004 and 2011. David Hiepler and Fritz Brunier took the images during trips to Israel, Iceland, France, Lithuania, the United States, China, Ecuador, Slovenia, Estonia and Brazil.
As the title suggests, hiepler, brunier, were dealing with moments and situations in which life somehow, literally or just felt, stopped - it is immobilized or, to use the german word, stillgestellt.
At the Dead Sea the sun loungers and parasols were moved away from the coastline by the constantly sinking water level. Now they are not in use anymore - almost abandoned. Or in Iceland, where the "blind houses" seem to encapsulate themselves in the face of the high-time of the economic crisis to wait for the crisis to ... - Exposition

Le photographe de portraits Marco Grob et les photographes industriels David Hiepler et Fritz Brunier se sont vus confier la réalisation d’un gigantesque projet de reportage photographique organisé par le groupe suisse Holcim pour fêter ses cent ans d’existence. Grob, Hiepler et Brunier ont photographié les collaborateurs et les lieux de production du groupe partout à travers le monde. Ce contexte de travail a créé les conditions d’une recherche artistique sans précédent et l’exposition présente non seulement des œuvres photographiques d’une qualité exceptionnelle, mais elle montre aussi comment une photographie de commande s’est transformée en photographie d’art.
