Eva Frapiccini is 27 years old and was born in Recanati (Mc).
Between 1997 and 2002 she attended the DAMS and the Fine Arts Academy in Bologna. In 2000 she won an Erasmus scholarship to the University of Barcelona, where she also enrolled in photography courses at the Fine Arts Academy and exhibited her first photographs. In 2001 she filmed a series of interviews on the clashes that took place at the Genoa G8, making the film entitled Long Waves, shown in 2004 at the State Media Library at the international conference of Iowa on oral memory. After graduating fro the DAMS she attended a photography course at the European Institute of Design in Turin. In February 2005 she won the Canon Award for the Best Digital Portfolio, with a study of a self-portrait in a mirror entitled "Alice racconta lo specchio". In December 2005 she won the Passaporto Award with an artist residence in London, by the UniCredit's scientific committee for the Progetto UniCredit & l'Arte, and chosen among the seven young artists selected for the exhibition entitled Nuovi arrivi 2005.
This is a project speaking of the deaths that occurred between the mid Seventies and the beginning of the Eighties, linked to leftwing terrorism (Red Brigades, Gruppi Armati Proletari, Prima Linea...) in the cities of Turin, Rome, Milan and Genoa. I was not even born at the time, and even my parents, who lived in the provinces, only experienced this from a distance. The photographs were taken at the same time of day, in search of the same light, and in the places in which the victims of terrorism died as well as those members of the terrorist groups who were killed in action. I have made no difference between the dead, since my work consisted in concentrating on the memory of a location, or the echoes of such tragic events, more than on the people involved.
