Born in Switzerland 1985, she currently lives and works in Zurich.
Currently living and working in Zurich, the Swiss artist and photographer Esther Mathis is one of the most interesting and to-be-watched talents of the young, contemporary art scene. A student of the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, Mathis was additionally awarded a scholarship for The School of Visual Arts in New York, and is currently doing her Master at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in Zurich. Her works have already been included in numerous group exhibitions, such as SCOPE in Basel (2010), or at the Biennial Internazionale di Fotografia in Milan (2009), or were selected for the Raiffeisen Benefiz Auction (2010) or for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 December Exhibition at the Kunstmueum Winterthur in Winterthur/Zurich. Just recently her work was similarly included in a large group exhibition, Präparat Bergsturz - Konservierte Bewegung at the Churer Kunstmuseum, where her work was presented alongside those of Roman Signer, Robert Smithson, Daniel Spoerri, or Naoya Hatakeyama, to name a few.
