Exhibition : «Czech fundamental » at Museo di Roma in Trastevere
The exhibition Czech Fundamental is organized by gallery Photo Edition Berlin in collaboration with Museo di Roma in Trastevere and Centro Sperimentale di Fotografia, Rome. The exhibit engages the viewer in a dialogue between old and new - Czech photography from the very beginnings of the avant-garde in the 1920s, to a broad selection of contemporary artists whose works exhibit an individual, authorial or experimental approach to the medium. Featured are photographs fundamental to the development of a specifically Czech vision - Frantisek Drtikol's nudes, Jaroslav Rossler's and Jaromir Funke's contemplative compositions, surreal arrangements by Vaclav Zykmund and Josef Sudek's poetic still-lifes. Fototagetrier 2010: LEBEN elementar
Conceptual background:
The non-profit organisation Kulturverein Bild und Kunst eV Trier is proud to announce that the first edition of the fototagetrier, the Trier Photo Days, will be held in 2010. The festival, which was conceived as a triennial event, will invest various museums and exhibition spaces in the city of Trier. Entitled “LEBEN elementar”, the first edition intends to survey a wide range of contemporary artistic practices based on photography or video and dealing with notions of contemporaneousness and existentiality.
The concept of the exhibition follows the observation that the gaps in our seemingly banal everyday – a seamless succession of events from birth and growing up to ageing and dying, interspersed with experiences of love and loss, joy and sadness, happiness and dismay, poverty ... - Exposition
Erratic Photography - Eliska Bartek
Eliška Bartek is probably one of the most diverse contemporary artists. Not only does she experiment with different media such as painting, photography and video, she explores each medium in depth. In her first solo exhibition at Photo Edition Berlin new photographic works will be on show.
"Flowers" are prominent in the works of Irving Penn, Robert Mapplethorpe, Nobuyoshi Araki, Peter Fischli/David Weiss, or Thomas Florschuetz and often stand for the limits of visible perception, notions of beauty and the ephemeral. Eliska Bartek continues and expands this tradition, producing breathtaking images with her own signature of light, form and colour.
