Delphine Diaw Diallo graduated from Académie Charpentier School of Visual Art, Paris
and currently lives in New York. The French Senegalese artist takes a mixed medium
approach to photography thereby juxtaposing tradition with modernity. In 2012, the
Smithsonian named her among Photography’s Emerging Stars. Her clients and press
include the New York Times, The New Yorker, Esquire, Nike, Converse, Anomaly and
WAD magazine. In 2015 she participated in the Cardiff Photo Biennale and Photoquai
Paris and she has previously exhibited at The Studio Museum in Harlem, Museum of Art
& Design, MoCADA NYC, Goethe-Institut Dakar & Mariane Ibrahim Abdi Gallery Seattle.

Red Hook Labs and Nataal are pleased to announce a group show featuring six contemporary photographers from Africa and its diaspora. The works of the selected artists, both emerging and internationally recognised, express the diversity of narratives informing the continent’s rich visual language today. The exhibition explores multiple themes that challenge accepted notions of belonging and identity; the everyday and the fantastical; the past and the future; the public and the private. A debut curatorial collaboration between Red Hook Labs and global media platform Nataal, the show encompasses documentary, fashion and portrait photography. Through the lens of these rising talents, we hope to tell universal and inspiring stories that traverse 21st century Africa and beyond.
