The images exhibited in this group show examine urban spaces through lyrical and dynamic means. The photographs featured in this exhibition not only capture the vista of diverse cities such as Paris, New York and Tokyo but their varying techniques emphasize the atmosphere of these urban environments.
Bruno Bertrand-Frezoul's silver gelatin prints are enhanced by his darkroom techniques of burning, painting and scratching his negatives prior to printing. In the photographs of New York, the evidence of his handiwork reflects the grittiness of New York City.
Wolfram Ruoff works with an abstraction of imagery and with the straightness of a technical line. The inhabitants of his photographs inhabit cities made of lines and edges.
