Bettina Pousttchi presents Framework
The Schirn Kunsthalle is showcasing a new work by German-Iranian artist Bettina Pousttchi specifically designed for the exterior of the Schirn. Similar to her well-received installation “Echo” (2009/10) in Berlin – where she resurrected the just demolished Palast der Republik (the former East German parliament building) in the form of a monumental photo installation applied to the façade of the Temporäre Kunsthalle (Temporary Art Hall) – her Frankfurt piece will likewise cover a large portion of the building façade. World Time Clock - Bettina Pousttchi
Bettina Pousttchi (b. 1971) has recently received due attention for her large-scale, site-specific photographic work Echo (2009/10). Bettina Pousttchi - Tomorrow was yesterday
The Buchmann Galerie is pleased to announce the first exhibition in the Buchmann Box, the Buchmann Galerie's second exhibition space in Berlin.
We will present new photographic works by the Berlin-based German artist Bettina Pousttchi, who is currently working in London for several months at the invitation of the University of the Arts.
The four large-format photographs in this exhibition (180 cm x 225 cm each) are the first works to have been produced in London. Taken on the streets of London, the motifs have an indexical ambiguity that is typical of the artist's approach to photography. The atmospheric blurriness is heightened by the horizontal stripes added by digital editing. The semantic charge of this cinematographic sequences produces a condensed space of association that recalls mnemonic images.
