Béla Bernand was born in budapest in 1911. He did his studies is england then came to Paris in 1933. He was photographer reporter for UJ Magazin / Budapest then starting from 1945 for BLACK-STAR Publishing Corp. He is covering spectacles in Paris. In 1962 he creates Agence de Presse BERNAND (8 millions of pictures) which constitute an important part of the "fond RONDEAU de la Bibliothèque Nationale" he is a reference in theatre, Opera and dance photography.
However there is an unpublished part of his work which has stayed hidden to the general public up to now. As Béla Bernand's granddaughter I'm trying to make this part of his work known. The major part of this work is constituted of reports made between 1933 and 1948, concerning every day life in Paris and its neighborhoods, social and political evens, performances (cinema, circus and marionette), fashion (Fashion,hairstyles) and art (painters,sculptors).
