Anatoly Cherkasov uses both Leica digital cameras and large format film cameras including a Gandolfi 10 x 8 and a Chinese 20 x 16.

Although the landscapes from his world travel are a bench mark for others, these are transcended in beauty and inspiration by his photographs of his native Ukraine and Russia. As is often the case, photographers’ greatest landscapes come from the country they know best, the country they have lived with throughout the year so that they know it in all its lights and moods. Anatoly’s sensitivity to the landscapes and churches of the Moskva and the Don results in work that emulates the great Russian landscape painters of the nineteenth century, such as Rapine, who should be far better known in the West.

In the past year Anatoly has had exhibitions in Moscow, St Petersberg and at the Nikon gallery in Tokyo.
