Alessandro Penso is an Italian freelance documentary photographer. Deeply committed to social issues, Alessandro has made immigration in Europe and the Mediterranean his focus in recent years. In 2014, he won First Prize - General News Singles in the World Press Photo contest for his work on a Bulgarian refugee camp; he received a prestigious Magnum Foundation Emergency Fund Grant to continue working on the issue of refugees and asylum seekers in Bulgaria..
