The most important lot among the photos of the nineteenth century is an image by the amateur photographer Roger Comte du Manoir. His Game of Chess from the year 1856 is estimated at € 12.000 (lot 16).
The highpoint from the classical photographers of the twentieth century, and one of the highlights of the auction, is Harry Callahan's 1957 photograph Aix-en-Provence, a view of a forest near the southern French city, estimated at € 12.000. Sasha Stone is represented with three vintage prints from the 1930s, among which a work with a grippingly calculated arrangement of diagonals (lot 228, € 7.500). Hans Finsler is represented with four early works from his stay in Halle. The extremely rare photos from this period are in excellent preservation, the prices between € 2.000 and 3.500. The images: ice cream dishes, stockings, a piece of silk fabric and a box of Most Chocolates (lot 77 et sqq).
A lot by Albert Renger-Patzsch with five interior and exterior shots of the Hans-Sachs-Haus in Gelsenkirchen, one of the best-known examples of the "New Construction" of the 1920s, is estimated at € 7.500. August Sander is prominently represented with nine photos. An extreme rarity is an anonymous 1927 photo-automat photo. The surrealists in the circle of André Breton immediately recognized the expanded possibilities of expression offered by photo-automats, which began to appear in Paris in 1927. Potrayed in the small print, estimated at € 3.500, is Man Ray and a fellow surrealist (lot 31).
Among images by classical contemporary photographers are four images of Water Towers by Bernd and Hilla Becher from 1978, numbered 32/50 (lot 254, 4.000). A portfolio with ten prints by various
