When The Tigers Broke Free (Pink Floyd) and Us and Them (Pink Floyd) Rock Doctor live in Long BeachI've heard that Roger Waters does not like others to perform his music. Songs are personal, and "When the Tigers Broke Free" is perhaps his most personal, expressing his grief and anger over the loss of his father at the Battle of Anzio, a father he never got the chance to meet. So let me at least dedicate this performance to Roger and his father, Eric Fletcher Waters. The song was written specifically for the film version of The Wall, and to me is the most poignant anti-war statement ever set to film or music. The only fitting follow-up is Rick Wright's "Us and Them," to which Roger wrote the lyrics and Dick Parry the sax solo. Rock Doctor live at the Long Beach Towne Center Promenade Friday, January 12, 2012 www.facebook.com Frank Bridge - Sir Roger de Coverley, A Christmas Dance for string orchestraEnglish Northern Philharmonia - David Lloyd-Jones. Roger de (or of) Coverley (also Sir Roger de Coverley or ...Coverly) is the name of an English country dance and a Scottish country dance (also known as The Haymakers). An early version was published in The Dancing Master, 9th edition (1695). The Virginia Reel is probably related to it. The name refers to a fox, and the dance's steps are reminiscent of a hunted fox going in and out of cover. It is mentioned in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol (1843) when the Ghost of Christmas Past shows Scrooge a party from his apprenticeship with Mr. Fezziwig. "...the great effect of the evening came after the Roast and Boiled, when the fiddler ... struck up 'Sir Roger de Coverley'. Then old Fezziwig stood out to dance with Mrs. Fezziwig." In the 1951 film Scrooge, based on Dickens's story and starring Alistair Sim in the title role, the fiddler is shown playing the tune at an energetic tempo during the party scene. It also figures in William Makepeace Thackeray's short story "The Bedford-Row Conspiracy" as the musical center piece of a political feast pitting the Whigs against the Torys and in Arnold Bennett's novel "Leonora" as music considered more suitable for a ball by the older gents to the likes of the Blue Danube Waltz. It is mentioned also in the book Silas Marner by George Eliot, when the fiddler at the Cass New Year's Eve party plays it to signal the beginning of the evening dancing; it is furthermore mentioned in the ...

St George's Chapel, Windsor Castel - I was glad.wmvFrom Hubert Parry. 'I was glad' was written by Hubert Parry for the coronation of King Edward VII. It is a setting of verses from Psalm 122 and has been repeated at all subsequent coronations and on many other national occasions. Parry's setting of "I Was Glad" was performed on 29 April 2011 at the Westminster Abbey wedding of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (formerly Kate Middleton) during the three-and-a-half minute bridal procession. It had previously been performed at the wedding of the duke's parents, Charles, Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981. I was glad when they said unto me: we will go into the house of the Lord. Our feet shall stand in thy gates, O jerusalem. Jerusalem is builded as a city: that is at unity in itself. O pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls: and plenteousness within thy palaces. Timothy Byran-Wigfield, choir master Roger Judd, organ
