Narcissus Reflected explores both Narcissus and narcissism. Narcissus is the beautiful youth from Greek mythology, turned by the gods into a narcissus flower as punishment for his self-obsession and inability to love anyone other than his own reflection. Narcissism was identified by Sigmund Freud as a passing phase in the development of a 'normal' ego. Narcissus Reflected is a scholarly yet also personal, speculative and eclectic journey into the realm of Narcissus. At its appropriately doubled heart lies Salvador Dalí's painting Metamorphosis of Narcissus (1937) and Narkissos (1976-91) the masterwork of the San-Franciscan artist Jess. Dalí's painting is one of the most famous, most well-travelled and most reproduced works of modern art, although this exhibition offers a rare chance to see the painting alongside the poem Dalí wrote to accompany it, and a wealth of preparatory sketches and other material. Jess's large, hand-drawn collage, by contrast, has never before traveled outside America. This exhibition presents it for the first time together with all the material of its making -- sketches, a pin board with all the collage's sources, and a preparatory notebook. Narcissus Reflected weaves a web of connections around these two great pictures, following the thread of Narcissus through experimental film and photography from the 1920s to the 1960s, winding up in the big, immersive contemporary environments of Yayoi Kusama's Narcissus Garden (1966) and Pippilotti Rist's ...

Festival sur Lignon 2002 "Mais à part ça, ça va !", grand spectacle cabaret de David BURZSTEIN (textes, compositions), Patrick NAJEAN (arrangements, compositions) et Albert TOVI (compositions). Le collectif Life is not a Picnic a réuni comédiens, musiciens et chanteurs venus d'horizons différents, qui se mêlent aux spectateurs, passant des standards de jazz américain aux rythmes afro-cubains, de la rumba au blues avant d'emporter son auditoire dans les tourbillons d'une valse sans fin. Imaginons... Un bar où les spectateurs seraient mélangés à l'orchestre, où il y aurait une piste de danse, où chacun prendrait sa place dans l'univers que nous inventerions autours des chansons. Le bar est un lieu où tout peut arriver. Un lieu cosmopolite, hors du temps, où sont rassemblés des humanités toutes différentes, mais où la musique, les chansons, quand le jour s'avance, touchent à quelque chose de commun à toutes ces différences, à quelque chose de simple et indicible. Les spectateurs seraient les acteurs privilégiés de cette soirée, spectateurs auquels nous nous adresserions comme à des habitués et dont nous rêverions qu'ils repartent avec la nostalgie que l'on éprouve au retour d'un grand voyage.
