Curious Journey - The 1916 Easter RisingRecollections Of Nine Of Ireland's Bravest Veterans In 1973, Kenneth Griffith, the renowned documentary maker, gathered together a group of veterans of the Irish Rising. Almost half a century after the terrible events they lived through, this highly diverse group - branded terrorists by the British in their youth and now highly respected citizens - gav etheir own vivid account of what it was like to live through thos turbulent times. Reavealing, sometimes emotional, especially when reminiscing over old comrades who lost their lives in the struggle, and suprisingly conciliatory towards their Protestant countrymen, Courius Journey provides an important historic record for anyone interested in Irish history. It is also a powerful and heartfelt testament to nine brave men and women who risked their lives for their country. Michael Collins life and death (1 of 6)Hang Up Your Brightest Colours is a 1973 film by Welsh actor and filmmaker Kenneth Griffith, about the life and death of Irish Republican leader Michael Collins. It was directed by Antony Thomas. Although usually classed as a documentary, the film more closely resembles a dramatic monologue, with Griffith frequently delivering quotes by key figures such as David Lloyd George, Winston Churchill, and Collins himself "in character." The film was commissioned by media mogul Lew Grade for transmission by ATV, the ITV region covering the Midlands he controlled at the time. Grade had, in fact, offered to fund whatever subject Griffith wanted to make, but when he viewed the finished film, he refused to show it. In his memoirs, Griffith claimed that Grade was unofficially instructed not to offer the film to the IBA for network transmission, so that the Association would not have to reject it and therefore be accused of political censorship.[1] Griffith took legal action, received an out-of-court settlement and built his home - Michael Collins House - in Islington with the proceeds. The film has been described as, "finest of all (of Griffith's) drama-docs," and, "more courageous and incendiary than the later Neil Jordan movie

CHARACTER ACTORS: Peter SellersPeter Sellers (1925-1980) is one of the greatest character actors in movie history. In The Naked Truth (1957), dir. Mario Zampi, he basically played himself as the victim of a tabloid journalist. The scene with Kenneth Griffith as his valet is in a way self revelatory. The dance in disguise with Dennis Price as the journalist ist prizeless.
