hay tiempo (there is time): Graciela IturbideTake a poetic journey with Mexican photographer Graciela Iturbide as she imparts the personal and cultural themes that inform her artistic vision and thread throughout her work. Filmmaker Alejandro Gómez de Tuddo follows Iturbide as she reveals her heart--from the religious legends she holds dear; to her regard for the dead "angelitos" or little angels of the cemetery; and her esteem for the virtues of St. John of the Cross's Solitary Bird: he flies only at great heights, tolerates no one's company, juts out his beak into the wind, and sings gently. (Place Value.6) Light-Smacked Black EyesThe sixth increment of the endless, the repeating decimals of poetry's value. Each ever-descending decimal place is like a speck of bird, an impossible bird were it not on, were it not flying away endlessly. This video poam (product of an act of making in Limited Fork Theory) emphasizes the simultaneity of existence on multiple scales. Emphasizes how the senses we depend on can overwhelm, how for all the seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, feeling, smelling done, we are still so unprepared for some of what we see, hear, taste, feel, touch, smell. So there are, "light-smacked black eyes," "ojos negros," the birds in the sky are pieces of pi in the sky on some scales, when they fly into a formation in which a cross is formed by a collaboration and corporation of wings --I take that still cross of Graciela Iturbide and put those birds, a possible numerical meaning, in motion, I have let them not have a cross to bear, but I've allowed flight to mark the atmosphere with a flight pattern pattern, to build a cross out of air, out of dynamics of air, out of a mathematical essence. And then, Graciela Iturbide's cross is subtracted, the visual weight is removed, only a reduction of physicality, not any weight of meaning, and the birds, the decimal places, the place values of Pi fly In Spanish and English. Nueva York: Episodio 34En este episodio comenzamos en Brooklyn. Participamos en "Encuentro", un festival que se lleva a cabo todos los años en Brooklyn College, celebrando las manifestaciones artísticas de los latinos en los Estados Unidos. En esta ocasión se honró de manera especial al gran periodista Juan González. (Taped: 10/2/2008) Después vamos a la casa de Carmen Boullosa, a conocer el fascinante mundo de "Chiquita", la novela ganadora del premio Alfaguara 2008. Su autor, el cubano Antonio Orlando Rodríguez, nos cuenta de su experiencia escribiendo la historia de una enana nacida en el siglo XIX en Cuba y que, con sólo 65 cm. de altura, alcanzó la gloria en los escenarios de París y Nueva York. Desde el Upper East Side en Mahattan viajamos a México, Costa Rica ya varias ciudades de los Estados Unidos, a través de las imágenes de la fotógrafa mexicana Graciela Iturbide. Mito y realidad se funden en las impactantes fotografías de esta artista. Y para finalizar estaremos con Álvaro Ramazzini, Obispo de San Marcos, Guatemala, quien fue invitado por el congreso de los Estados Unidos para hablar de los destrozos ecológicos en su país como resultado de la globalización.
