The Bienal is titled "There is always a cup of sea to sail in" ("Há sempre um copo de mar para um homem navegar"). It "is anchored on the notion that it is impossible to separate art from politics. Such impossibility is expressed in the fact that art, through ways of its own, is capable of blocking the sensorial coordinates through which we understand and inhabit the world by bringing into it themes and attitudes that did not previously fit in, thus making it different and wider." The 29th Bienal de São Paulo is curated by Moacir dos Anjos and Agnaldo Farias and by a team of guest curators from various backgrounds. The curators are Fernando Alvim (Angola), Rina Carvajal (Venezuela USA), Yuko Hasegawa (Japan), Sarat Maharaj (South Africa / UK), and Chus Martinez (Spain). Artistes : Manon de Boer, David Claerbout, Tony Conrad, Valie Export, Marco Godinho, Dan Graham, David Lamelas, Laurent Montaron, Bruce Nauman, Anri Sala, Hiroshi Sugimoto Commissaires : Christophe Gallois, Marie-Noëlle Farcy, Clément Minighetti 3796.cultrD.tv: Julia Stoschek Collection CITIES OF GOLD AND MIRRORS Kultur Düsseldorfwww.cultrd.net NUMBER FIVE CITIES OF GOLD AND MIRRORS. Works from the JULIA STOSCHEK COLLECTION. 02.07.2011 - Sommer 2012 Ab dem 25. Francis Alÿs, Charles Atlas, Salvatore Bevilacqua, Johanna Billing, David Claerbout, Jane Crawford, Keren Cytter, Simon Denny, Olafur Eliasson, Robert Fiore, Cyprien Gaillard, Andreas Gursky, Nancy Holt, DAS INSTITUT und ...
Triple Raden Wahyono @ The Betrayal of LCVSLC von Sukmeister performs operations upon both collage and film in such a way as to produce a physical experience of both these mediums and a keen awareness of the potentialities of these mediums. If collage fixes and documents a specific moment in time in such a way as to prevent if from slipping away, film contrawise, enables the continous evolution of one image into another. While conflating collage and film in a computarised medium ―a single electronic signal that codifies them into information emitted as video― LC von Sukmeister affirms that the concepts of collage and of film survive into this digital medium. The loose collage image and the filmic register in real time are constituted as two temporal modalities that join forces. It is in the condensation of the different temporalities into a single medium that Von Sukmeister makes his Wayang 2.0 work. Douglas ...
Video art "Haertel" 01/02(Access Haertel at www.oligoplix.com) Video art. "Haertel" reveals within its architecture a small universe in ruins, where supposedly there are two persons walking in this place of labyrinthine paths. The characters live in a kind of space-time shifted, coexisting in the same environment, or is it a delusion of one of them? Or is it a place where our desires come true? This is only defined by the viewer. The waiting is the marker of time in this video, consider the images that move in a slow and steady course, denoucing the natural state of things. The Way Things Gohomevideo.icarusfilms.com Fischli and Weiss remove these things that surround us from their contexts in our daily lives, and then restructure their relationships to one another. The artists aim neither to glorify nor to alienate these common objects, but merely to create new references in which they might be considered. THE WAY THINGS GO - without narration or interviews - simply records the self-destructing performance of Fischli's and Weiss' most ambitious construction: 100 feet of physical interactions, chemical reactions, and precisely crafted chaos worthy of Rube Goldberg or Alfred Hitchcock. homevideo.icarusfilms.com
