Tracey Moffatt Night Cries: A Rural Tragedy (1989) 1Synopsis A short experimental film shot totally in a studio, it is about the relationship between an Aboriginal daughter and her white mother. The daughter, now the sole carer of her dying mother, dreams of far away places. Curator's notes A short film written and directed by Tracey Moffatt, Night Cries is promoted as a possible sequel to Chauvel's feature film Jedda. What would have happened had Jedda survived, and became the primary carer of her white mother? Moffatt, one of Australia's most famous visual artists whose work is internationally acclaimed, continues her use of constructed environments, with no outdoor scenes filmed in this work. Shot entirely indoors, the design work of Steven Curtis in Night Cries can also be seen in Moffatt's feature film BeDevil. The beautiful use of rich colours, reflections and sounds open up the indoor environment of the set, and suggests the grand expanse of physical landscapes. Moffatt's use of famous Aboriginal singer Jimmy Little, who sings 'Royal Telephone' in Night Cries, evokes the presence of Christianity, and its role in the assimilation of Aboriginal peoples. The haunting textures of the painted landscape can then perhaps be reflective of a gradual change in how Aboriginal people relate to the land as a consequence of assimilation. The haunted look in the eyes of the Aboriginal daughter (Marcia Langton), is loaded with a sense of what could have been. The final scene of Night Cries is reminiscent of a scene from Jedda, when ...

Doctor Who (Vincent And The Doctor) Series 5 Episode 10 ReviewThis is a review of the tenth episode "Vincent And The Doctor" of the new Doctor Who starring Matt Smith and Karen Gillian. It is written by Richard Curtis. Richard Curtis is a respect comedy writer who co-wrote Blackadder. He has written films such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually and Notting Hill. PLOT (SPOILER ALERT) The Doctor has taken Amy to the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, where they admire the work of the post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. As the art expert, Dr. Black, tells his tour group about van Gogh's work, Amy thanks the Doctor for bringing her there, and wonders why he's taken her to a series of amazing places. One particular piece, The Church at Auvers catches the Doctor's eye, and he points out a malevolent, shadowed face that appears in one of the windows. Disturbed, the Doctor decides they must travel back in time so they can speak to van Gogh himself. In 1889 Arles, France, they manage to track down van Gogh at a local cafe' where the artist never pays for his drinks and has earned a bad reputation. The Doctor attempts to break the ice, but the distrustful artist rebuffs him angrily. Amy, however, ingratiates herself to him very quickly since he thinks her "cute", and thanks to her offer to share a bottle of wine with him. Over wine, the Doctor clumsily broaches the subject of the church painting, but the trio is interrupted when a woman wails for help. They rush into the alleyway to find a young girl dead, ravaged by some sort of ...

Spoiler Alert! Ep: 10. Vincent and the Doctorwww.youtube.com Hehehe! That's the sort of thing I'm gonna do to end Spoiler Alert! from now on! :D I'm also going to try something revolutionary next week; taking notes during the episode to talk from, so I HOPEFULLY won't even need the doobly-doo addendum here... Tragically, just like Amy, I forgot Rory (although obviously she didn't forget him, he was removed from time, there was nothing there to forget)! Loved the subtle allusion to him at the beginning with the Doctor taking Amy to lots of nice places, tying in so nicely to the episode, then Vincent saying Amy had lost someone (which of course makes no sense, she never had Rory to lose, because like I said, he was removed from time, furthering my theory that the cracks do not in fact simply remove someone from time. Then there was the Doctor's slip-of-the-tongue, as he was so used to Rory being there, and finally Amy saying she's not the marrying type. The Doctor's marvellous line, how could I forget it -- "Is this how time normally passes? Slowly? In the right order..." Oh, and the scene with the stars turning into the painting. Truly beautiful (I used that word too many times in the video, but this scene seriously was). I already love the stars...yeah... Bill Nighy was UNCREDITED! What's that all about!? I didn't realise until watching Confidential (which shows how seamless it all is) that a lot of this episode was shot in Croatia, with the Vampires of Venice stuff! Magnificent! :D Richard Curtis said Van Gogh was ...

Doctor Who Tribute 2012.I had a bit of spare time so i just decided to put this little tribute togeather hope all you doctor who fans out there enjoy it. Dr. Who - Vincent & the Doctor spoof/reviewA very late & badly made parody, spoof, review, action figure interpretation, satire of Episode 10 of Series 5 of Doctor Who starring Matt Smith. Its about Vincent van Gough & feelings. Plus there's some Doctor Who Confidential. Warning: This video contains me attempting a scottish accent. And I thought Richard Curtis was a good writer.
Doctor Who End of Time Fan Trailer.Hey folks this is my fan trailer for David tennants End Of Time episode hope you enjoy watching it : )
The CeeDees LiveJanuary 28, 1984 at the old YWCA gymnasium in Peterborough, Ontario. Fronted by Mr. CD himself, Curtis Driedger, the CeeDees were equally at home playing the uber hip Cameron House on Queen Street West in Toronto or the blue collar Red Dog Tavern on Hunter Street in Peterborough. This video shows the group filling a role it frequently played, serving as a kind of house band, from the late 1970s to the mid 1980s, for the hippies, students, artists and new-wavers populating the Peterborough art and performance scene that revolved around the city's artist-run centre, Artspace. In this clip we hear two great examples of Driedger's witty, satirical songwriting: 'Slash Yer Wrists' (unfortunately the video cuts out before the song finishes, a casualty of the unstable 3/4" videotape it was recorded on) and 'Hello Linda'. The rest of the band is Bruce Moffat (drums), Tom Griffiths (bass), and Jamie Clugston (percussion). More about this show The location for this dance was unique; it was the first show of its kind at the YW gym and it would be the last. Over the years The CeeDees had played numerous overheated gigs at Artspace's Hunter Street gallery and its downstairs performance space, City Stage. But in 1984 the organization was without a home, having split its digs when the landlord upped the rent the year before. At the time of this gig it had been a long time since the last CeeDees appearance in Peterborough, so Artspace/City Stage needed to find a room big enough for the ...
